In addition to 36 European countries and South Korea, foreign nationals from several other Asian countries including Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Japan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Brunei, Singapore, Indonesia, and Vietnam holding valid residence permits for employee, personal affairs, or family reunion may apply for visas free of charge at Chinese Embassy in these countries starting from 22 August 2020 with an appointment.

According to the announcements posted on the official websites and/or official WeChat accounts of the Embassies of the People's Republic of China in these countries, China has decided that starting on August 22, foreign nationals and permanent residents from the above mentioned countries with valid Chinese residence permits (work, personal affairs, and family reunion) can apply for the relevant visa at the Chinese Embassy in these countries free of charge, in the context of the normalization of the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic and in order to further facilitate people-to-people exchanges.

It should be noted that visa applicants are kindly requested to comply with the epidemic prevention regulations of the local governments after entering China, and obtain a negative nucleic acid test certificate no older than five days before boarding.

In the face of the rapid spread of the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide, the Chinese government temporarily suspended entry of foreigners with valid visas and residence permits into China from March 28. At the same time, China still strives to facilitate necessary economic, trade and technological exchanges as well as trips to China based on urgent humanitarian needs.

China resumed issuing visas to South Korean students, South Korean nationals with residence permits in China, and those hired to work in the country from August 5.

On August 10, visa facilitation was made available to foreign nationals from 36 European countries according to an announcement posted on the official Website of Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Denmark.
