The Shenzhen Traffic Police has implemented traffic restrictions on vehicles without Shenzhen’s registered license plates during peak hours from July 23rd. The police will impose a penalty of 300 yuan and deduct three points from the driver’s license for violating the ban starting from today (July 27th).

The peak hours refer to a morning peak from 7:00 to 9:00 and an evening peak from 17:30 to 19:30 on working days. Driving non-locally registered vehicles during other periods and statutory holidays will not be restricted. This policy aims to alleviate the city’s traffic pressure, reduce road congestion, and provide a safe and unobstructed traffic environment for the city’s economic and social activities.

What kind of vehicles can be exempt from the above restrictions?

·Vehicles with Hong Kong License plates.

·Vehicles of embassies and consulates.

·Military vehicles, police cars, fire engines, ambulances, and engineering emergency vehicles on mission.

·Passenger vehicles with Road Transport Operation Permits. (Rental cars and online car-hailing vehicles that have not been registered in traffic department are excluded.)

If a non-locally registered vehicle must enter Shenzhen during the restricted time for some national or provincial conferences and exhibitions, the driver can go to the city’s traffic department in advance to apply for a temporary pass for specific motor vehicles.

If a non-locally registered vehicle unintentionally enters the prohibited area in peak hours the first two times, no penalty shall be imposed. The fine will be imposed from the third violation of the rule.
