Miraculous! Blooming septet (seven) lotus flowers on one stalk were spotted at the Lotus Mountain in Panyu, Guangzhou on the morning of July 9th, 2020. The flowers borne by a fine breed of water lily, have seven complete pedicles.

The occurrence odds of twin lotus flowers on one stalk are less than one in one hundred thousand, which is far lower than that of human twins. Triplet or quintuplet lotus flowers on one stalk are extremely rare, and no septet lotus flowers have ever been spotted before, according to Wang Liangsheng, a researcher from the Institute of Botany, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the vice chairman of the Lotus Branch of China Flower Association. Wang said twin or multiple lotus flowers on one stalk are non-duplicated, can’t be inherited or cultivated, their emergence is purely by chance.
