Good news! With the guidance of Guangzhou's bureau of commerce, almost 1,000 businesses in the city will issue 10.5 million electric coupons with a total value of 178 million yuan to boost consumption and market recovery.

By scanning QR codes or searching '消费券' (coupons) on the app Alipay, residents and tourists visiting Guangzhou can obtain a coupon worth 85 RMB at 10am from June 13 to 19, and 30,000 coupons will be distributed every day.

In detail, the coupon package includes discounts for spending: every 10 yuan will receive 2 yuan discount; 30 yuan, 3 yuan discount, 50 yuan will be rewarded with 10 yuan discount, 100 yuan can earn 20 yuan discount; and 150 yuan provides a 50 yuan discount.

Shops where these discounts can be redeemed with the coupons include convenience stores like Seven-eleven and C-store, some local large malls and famous restaurants such as Friendship Store, Grandbuy and the Guangzhou Restaurant.

According to an official of Guangzhou's bureau of commerce, the coupon event will promote the recovery of Guangzhou's retail and catering industry, and boost consumption potential.

Data by Alipay data shows that Guangzhou's business sector is recovering since a number of measures have been taken to boost economy, and small stores are the most economically active during the post-epidemic period.

The coupons will be given on a 'first come, first serve' basis, so just hurry! And residents should know that the coupons are valid for seven days after obtaining them on the app.
