China has sent a team of four medical experts to Peru to help with the country's fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. This is the second medical team that China has sent to Latin America.

The medical team departed from Guangzhou in a chartered plane bound for Peru last Friday and arrived in Lima on Saturday, May 23rd, local time. They were greeted by Peruvian Minister of Health Victor Zamora and Chinese ambassador to Peru Liang Yu at the airport.
All the experts came from the Nanfang Hospital of Southern Medical University and have different specialties, according to the Health Commission of Guangdong Province. The specialists are Guo Yi (public health management), Liu Laiyu (respiratory and critical medicine), Wu Yongming (neurology and critical medicine) and Zhou Hao (hospital infection control), according to a China Daily report.
During their stay in Peru, the experts will share China's experiences with the Peruvian Ministry of Health and local experts on the prevention and treatment of COVID-19, clinical care, testing and analysis, and go on field trips.
Victor Zamora expressed his gratitude for China's help and support during the pandemic, which he believes has effectively strengthened Peru’s capacity to prevent and control the spread of COVID-19. He added that China’s expert team will help the country win the fight against COVID-19 pandemic as soon as possible.
Liang Yu pointed out that China and Peru as well the people of the two countries have been standing side by side during the fight against the pandemic. Liang said that the medical assistance team’s working visit is not only a trip to share experience, but also a trip of friendship, which fully demonstrates the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
