To help better communication between medical workers and expats, a number of expats have joined the volunteer team to provide services in the designated hotels for quarantine and medical observation in Guangzhou.

William is a student from Angola and has been in China for five years. He applied to be a volunteer immediately when he saw the recruitment notice in his community in Huangpu District. Now he is a volunteer actively working on the front line of epidemic control. He is responsible for delivering food for people in quarantine and communicating with people about their health status and related inquiries via phone calls.

As of April 17th, Huangpu accepted 3030 inbound travelers, of which 2063 are Chinese nationals and 967 are foreign nationals.

Zhong Wuqiong, a community officer in Huangpu, praised William for bridging local social workers with expats, saying, “Although he just joined us, he is really good at this job. We all like working with him.”
