It is forecasted that a new cold wave will sweep across Guangdong over March 9th and 10th, bringing strong northerly winds, heavy rainfall and a temperature drop of an average 4-6℃ province-wide. As a result, the present humidity will be also reduced.

On March 9th, heavy rain is forecast to hit the northern part of the Pearl River Delta region as well as northern and eastern Guangdong, with thunderstorms and gale-force winds around Level 8 to be expected in some areas. Other areas will see overcast weather with a chance of storms or heavy rain.

Light fog is expected in the morning across much of the province. There will be a temperature drop from north to south starting from the evening, with lows of 15-19℃ in northern cities and counties, and 20-23℃ in other areas.

On March 10th, overcast weather with showers is expected over southern coastal cities and counties. Other areas will see overcast weather with sunny spells. Temperature lows will be around 10-14℃ in the northern areas, 18-21℃ in the southern coastal areas and 15-17℃ in other parts of the province.

On March 11th, the weather in most cities are forecasted to be cloudy and overcast with a chance of light rain in some areas. The lowest temperature will further drop by 1-2℃ in the northern areas and the southern coastal areas.

Over the next two days, there will be gale-force winds around Level 6-8 off the province’s coast.

The Meteorological Bureau has advised residents to pay attention to traffic safety during periods of low visibility due to the frequent rain and fog recently.
