Warmer weather has brought us the feeling of spring in the Flower City recently. Not for long, however, with a cold wave on the way according to the Guangzhou Meteorological Service.

On March 3rd and 4th, there will be heavy rain across northern Guangdong, the central and northern Pearl River Delta, and some cities and counties in western Guangdong due to the influence of moderate strength cold wave.

Some parts of the above areas will have strong convective weather, such as short-term heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and gale-force winds. Daily average temperatures across most parts of the province will drop by 4-6℃. The lowest temperature will be seen on the morning of March 5th, and the temperature in high-altitude mountainous areas will be around only 7℃.

From March 6th to 8th, temperatures will gradually rise again across the province, with a continued chance of showers. Low visibility is likely in some areas, and greater importance should be attached to travel safety when driving or cycling.

The moderate-intensity cold front is expected to hit Guangzhou on the morning of March 4th (Wednesday). Not only will it bring temperatures down by 4-6℃, but also moderate to heavy rain, so don’t forget your umbrella!
