As of midnight, February 20th, Guangdong had reported 1 new case of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in Dongguan, pushing the total number of infected patients to 1333. No new cases were confirmed in other cities.

A special fund with a total of over 244 million yuan has been set up in Guangdong to support frontline medical workers fighting againt the coronavirus (COVID-19), announced Zhang Li, Vice President of Guangdong Federation of Trade Unions, at the 27th press conference on the province’s fight against the virus this afternoon.

Today Guangdong government unveiled a raft of measures to guarantee medical workers' livelihood, mental health and medical supplies, in order to make sure they are healthy and stay focused on winning the battle against the outbreak of the coronavirus disease.

Medical workers infected with COVID-19 will receive 30,000 yuan of aid per person. Those who also take part in the medical protection plan for on-duty employees can receive a maximum of 50,000 yuan in aid benefits.

Guangdong is also carrying out measures to relieve the stress of front-line medical workers, providing them with daily necessities, arranging time for their rest and making sure their families, especially children and the elderly, will be taken good care of.

Moreover, various psychological counseling platforms and assistance hotlines have been launched to provide front-line medical workers and their families with 24-hour counseling services.
