A donation ceremony for aid from Turkey in the fight against Coronavirus (COVID-19) was held in Guangzhou on Thursday. Kurtulus Aykan, Consul-General of Turkey in Guangzhou, Xie Ying, Director of the Special Commissioners Office in Guangzhou from the Ministry of Commerce of China, and Xiong Yongwu, General Manager of China Post Group Guangdong Branch were all in attendance.

According to Aykan, this donation is the second one that the Turkish government is making to the government of China. Behind this donation there are many Turkish NGOs. “An epidemic is the worst enemy of all. And China is not alone in the fight against this evil epidemic. Turkey stands by Wuhan, China, with every friendly person of China.” Seeing the ability of the Chinese government to mobilise, he said that the people here were very confident about the measures taken by the government. He also indicated that the government of Guangdong Province released the information and guide to epidemic prevention in a timely fashion. “I have every confidence that through the measures that you have taken at every level of the government, you will fight the epidemic and you will alleviate it very soon. I also believe with the strong roots of the Chinese economy, in the near future, you will rise again and continue to grow”, he added.

After customs clearance, these medical supplies will be transferred by air from Guangzhou to Wuhan via Nanjing, and are expected to arrive at Wuhan airport on February 14th.
