Guangdong has confirmed 21 new pneumonia cases on January 23rd, among which Yangjiang and Qingyuan report their first cases respectively. 2 pneumonia patients in Shenzhen have recovered and left the hospital.

Guangdong launched the top public hygiene alert on January 23rd and required local governments, hospitals and related departments to enforce corresponding emergency plans. Under the instruction, Guangzhou pauses all the festive performance and offline gathering events immediately.

Flower markets and festival performance suspended

All flower markets in Guangzhou will close at 18:00 January 24th.

The AI flower market and related festive performance in Haixinsha Island will be suspended from January 24th. Visitors who bought the tickets could seek the refund policies on the official platform of the event.

Libraries, museums shut down

Many libraries and museums announced to shut down on the evening of January 23rd.

Guangzhou Library announced to shut down starting from January 24th and pause reader services (including book returning, 24 hour smart library and all cultural activities). The library will not charge any fines if the books exceed the loan period during the shut down. Online library is still in service.

Guangdong Museum will shut down temporary from January 24th to February 8th. All exhibitions will not open to public during this period. Visitors who bought the tickets of the Rembrandt to Monet: 500 Years of European Painting will have the refund through their original payment channels. The museum will have another announcement about their open date.

In addition, Guangzhou Art Museum, Hakka Museum of China, Guangzhou Luxun Museum, Guangzhou Museum, Peasant Movement Institute, the Memorial Museum of Generalissimo Sun Yat-sen's Mansion and Chen Clan Academy will also close as the reaction to the emergency alert.

Guangdong appeals movie ticket refund policies

Guangdong Administration of Film suggested that movie theaters should formulate convenient policies if consumers ask to refund or reschedule their tickets. Theaters should train their staff on the virus preventative measures.

Tourist attractions cancel festive activities

Yong Qing Fang cancels the floating flower market and the waterfront market from January 24th and start disinfection around the area.

Baiyun Mountain suspends all the indoor activities and exhibitions from January 24th.
