Want to visit a museum but DON’T want to be in a large crowd of people? Now you can visit over 100 Guangdong museums online.
Guangdong has worked with local tech firm Tencent to build a digital version of the province’s museums on a mini-program entitled ‘博物官’ launched on Tencent's popular social media platform WeChat.
A total of 148 museums in Guangdong have registered an account on the mini-program, among which, over 100 museums have opened a page to showcase their exhibits.
Now you can digitally visit these museums by accessing photos, videos and written materials about their collections. You can also get AI voice guide for your tour offline.
As of the end of 2019, Guangdong is home to a total of 322 museums, 296 of which open to the public for free.
