Want to take a close look at the spectacular creations for the red carpet, made for unforgettable characters of international cinema or worn to movie premieres and awards such as the Oscars by the most famous supermodels and celebrities in the world?

If you are at the Baiyun International Airport with some time to kill over the next three months, come visit the new exhibition entitled ‘60 Years of Made in Italy’ which is already underway from January 17th to April 15th at the CITICPORT after domestic security check on the third floor of Terminal 2.

This exhibition, with more than forty masterpiece creations and archival clothes from the most renowned Italian fashion brands, pays tribute to the genius and sartorial knowledge of some leading figures in Italian fashion and design.

It forms part of the China-Italy Year of Culture and Tourism project in Guangzhou, which was inaugurated on the morning of January 17th at the airport. Guests from both China and Italy attended the opening ceremony.

Lucia Pasqualini, Consul General of Italy in Guangzhou, said that the consulate will stage a series of cultural initiatives to foster and strengthen the friendship between China and Italy this year. She hopes to engage the public, to inspire the mutual understanding and encourage Chinese tourists to visit Italy and see firsthand the beauties of Italian art and culture.

Ms. Mo Mingzhen, CFO of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, said the China-Italy Year of Culture and Tourism project will promote the exchange and cooperation between enterprises and among people from both countries. Mo also said that she looks forward to more culture and art projects to be launched at the airport.

Chen Fei, Chairman of CITICPORT, pointed out that CITICPORT will work closely with the Consulate General of Italy in Guangzhou to launch more events in the fields of fine food, fashion, design and sports at the airport in 2020.

The year 2020 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Italy. Both China and Italy have a long history and a rich cultural heritage. More people-to-people exchanges between the two countries have been seen in recent years. Statistics show that Italy received over 3 million Chinese visitors last year and the number is expected to rise in 2020.

The China-Italy Year of Culture and Tourism is the first time for the two countries to hold a large-scale activity focusing on the integration of culture and tourism. Over 100 events will be held during the one-year activity, covering areas of performing arts, visual arts, cultural heritage, tourism and creative design.
