Please be aware that you will need to pay an additional fare of up to 10 yuan if you are considering taking a taxi in Zhuhai during the upcoming Spring Festival. According to Zhuhai Transport Bureau, prices will rise temporarily between 12:00 am January 24th and 12:00 am January 31st, and the extra fare will be calculated based on the following rates shown on the taximeter:

Passengers must pay the taximeter fee plus the corresponding excess fare for each trip within the timeframe.

The bureau said taxi drivers had rejected passengers and charged extra at random during Spring Festival in the past, because there are less drivers on duty during holidays. This move aims to reduce such occasions and avoid conflict between drivers and passengers. In addition, Zhuhai also hopes to encourage more taxi drivers to stay in the city because of the increased earning potential.
