On January 2nd, the Experience China: Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Trip came to a close in Huizhou, having been under way since December 30th.

In Huizhou, the media group visited Luofushan Sinopharm, Luofu Mountain, TCL Electronics Holdings Limited and Desay SV Automotive. In order to explore the city's two key industries: bio-medicine and electrical products.

Traditional Chinese medicine impresses foreign media

According to the outline development plan of the Greater Bay Area, a healthy Bay Area depends on cooperation in the field of Chinese medicine. The first stop of the trip to Huizhou was the Luofushan Sinopharm Co, Ltd, one of the largest Chinese medicine manufacturing enterprises, with a high annual production capacity and sales of more than 500 million RMB.

During the tour, journalists were briefed as to how the company has innovated in the production of Chinese medicine and visited its extraction workshop for producing herbal oil, a ‘National Intangible Cultural Heritage’ medicine, also its branded product. It is used for relief of cold headaches, insect and mosquito bites and other forms of minor pain.

"It is amazing to see the process of making the herbs into Chinese medicine. Chinese medicine is very good for human body without side effects," said Zhunisbakov Marat, a journalist from Kazakhstan. "When I tried the herbal oil just now, it really refreshed me."

"Health is the common pursuit of all human beings, and I am looking forward to seeing Chinese medicine go global sooner under the Belt and Road Initiative. For the benefit of people all over the world, this environmentally friendly treatment should be more well-known," he said.

"As a citizen of Kazakhstan, I also hope that the production technology for Chinese medicine can be introduced to our country. Since we also have many herbs, but lack the techniques for developing and utilising them," Marat added.

Journalists' opinions of the GBA and the Belt and Road Initiative

It is the first time for Imran Ali, a reporter from the Independent News Pakistan (INP) to visit Guangdong. It's a matter of immense pleasure to see GDP growth, economic stability and progress here, said Ali. "I would urge rest of the world, especially economic experts to visit and learn from the province."

In Ali's opinion, the Greater Bay Area will help China to lead in industrial spheres worldwide. This well versed project is indeed a guarantee of economic growth and stability of China, while it will further open China to the rest of the world.

The GBA can also be gateway for Pakistani products to reach the nations along the Belt and Road. It can be very meaningful and constructive if Pakistan and Guangdong join hands in the industrial sector.

Gao Jin, president of the Overseas Chinese Newspaper of Europe, is impressed by Guangdong's sustainable development and he believes that the Pearl River Delta is the biggest engine of China's economic development and will even play a leading role in the global economy.

The recently completed mega project that is the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge also amazes Gao, connecting the three regions together it will help transform the GBA into a world-class bay area with a number of advanced industries, providing necessary infrastructure support for the development of the PRD over the next 20 years.
