Guangzhou and Heidelberg of Germany signed a cooperative agreement to further their friendship and cooperation on December 15th.
According to the agreement, the two cities will have more exchanges between government departments and enterprises, and strengthen communication and cooperation in such fields as trade, education and tourism.
Heidelberg is famous for its culture and tourism, and is a R&D center in Germany as well as Europe. The city has been forging partnership in various fields with Guangzhou in recent years, which includes the cooperation between the Sino-German Science and Education Park in Heidelberg and the Guangzhou Development District. The two parts signed an agreement in 2018 to set up offshore innovation centers in both cities to help entrepreneurs.
Guangzhou has forged sister city relationship with 38 cities of 35 countries (with 12 cities in Europe, 2 cities in North America, 6 cities in South America, 12 cities in Asia, 4 cities in Africa and 2 cities in Oceania).
In addition, the city has established friendship with 44 cities of 33 countries around the world. it has organized a wide range of partnering events to boost exchanges with its sister&friendship cities in different sectors.
