Chinese animation ‘Ne Zha’, also the first Chinese 3D animated film in IMAX format, has smashed this summer's box office records as the highest-grossing domestically-made animated film of all time, drawing ever more people’s attention to the industry.
Guangdong, home to a booming cartoon industry, unveiled its top ten animation and comic brands on December 8th, offering a fast access guide for people who want to learn about the industry, and also a must-see Guangdong animation and comic list.

Guangdong has been leading the country in terms of animation industry for years. In 2018, the output value of the industry in Guangdong was 63.22 billion RMB, accounting for 34.1% of the country’s total, ranking first among all regions.
Since 2012, a large number of animation enterprises have been established in the province and created numerous popular animations, such as those included in the above list and other hits, notably Super Wings, GG Bond and The Outcast.
For enthusiasts, you won’t want to miss the annual cartoon events held in the province, such as the China International Comics Festival EXPO held every October, or the China Animation & Comic Competition (CACC) Golden Dragon Awards held every September.

Over the past several years, the province has also held a dozen animation and comic exhibitions to celebrate China’s most accomplished artists and offer a comprehensive insight into the development of the industry, such as the 1st China Animation & Comic Art Exhibition, the Painting, Animation and Cartoon Exhibition of the 13th China National Exhibition of Fine Arts, and the 40 Years of Achievement Exhibition of Guangzhou Cartoon Art.
The Top 10 Animation & Comic Brands list was released during the second Members Conference of the Guangdong Cartoonists Association. The Association held an election and Jin Cheng was re-elected as the President for a second consecutive term.
