The 2nd China (Guangdong) AI International Summit is about to raise curtain in Nansha from October 23th to 24th.

According to the organizer, the summit will be one of the highest-standard meetings in China’s AI industry in 2019, and it will open to the public so that people can gain insight into the outstanding AI projects and have the chance to partner with enterprises and researchers.

With the theme of “AI &ALL” (meaning AI is everywhere), the summit will invite the top-notch scientists and enterprises leaders to deliver speeches. And it will see unveils of some influential technologies and products as well as the signature of major projects and cooperation in the industry.

In addition, the summit will include the launching ceremonies of an open platform for AI innovation and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area AI training center established by the Guangzhou International AI Research Institute.

The organizer said the summit would have five sub-forums. Apart from one closed-door meeting that will invite experts to give advice on the application of AI to Guangdong’s development, there will be four sub-forums on smart finance, smart education, smart transportation and AI application. These forums are organized by famous AI companies such as iFLYTEK and CLOUDWALK.

Furthermore, key opinion leaders of the industry from home and abroad will also present at the summit. They include Chinese Academy of Engineering Gao Wen and Zheng Nanning as well as Wendy Hall and Ben Goertzel. Three professional forums will be held outside the summit venue in Guangzhou’s Huangpu, Zhuhai and Foshan.

Yang Jun, Deputy Director-General of Guangdong Science and Technology Department said Guangdong had released an AI development plan in July 2018 and it indicated that the scale of the core businesses of the AI industry in Guangdong reached 26 billion yuan in 2017, which took up about one third of the national total.

“Based on our plan, the scale of these core businesses will excess 50 billion yuan by 2020 and it will drive the development of related businesses such as robotics and smart equipment to a scale of 300 billion yuan,” he said.

Nansha, the host of this year’s summit, is a rapidly developing district in Guangzhou. It started fostering the AI industry in 2017 since when the district has opened various scenarios such as hospitals, schools and roads for the application of AI technology. Thus far, the district has clustered more than 170 AI enterprises covering such fields as AI chip, algorithm and language recognition.
