With over 7000 people singing, dancing and cheering in Guangzhou Gymnasium, a mass ceremony was held in Guangdong, the pioneer of China’s reform and opening up, to celebrate the 70th birthday of the founding of the PRC on September 29th.
Li Xi, Party Secretary of CPC Guangdong Committee attended the ceremony and made a keynote speech, and Ma Xingrui, Governor of Guangdong, presided the ceremony.
During the pageantry, the formations of the section featuring the province’s efforts on Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, building Shenzhen a socialist demonstration area and so on chorused classical songs to express their excitement and enthusiasm about the founding of the PRC.
In his speech, Li indicated that over the past 70 years, tremendous changes have taken place in Guangdong, which is a real and vivid miniature of China as the founding of the PRC completely reversed China's miserable fate born from poverty and weakness and being bullied and humiliated over more than 100 years since the advent of modern times.
As the frontier of China’s reform and opening up, Guangdong has made great achievements in economic development and became a world-level manufacturing base, allowing people experience a huge leap in their living condition since the key policy has been deployed.
Li called upon the province to resolutely implement the central government’s deployment, further deepen reform and opening up comprehensively, fully promote the Greater Bay Area development and completely support Shenzhen to build a pilot demonstration area of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
Li Yumei, director of Standing Committee of Guangdong Provincial People’s Congress, Wang Rong, Chairman of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) of Guangdong Committee, Huang Longyun, vice director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Committee of NPC, Yao Yongliang, deputy political commissar and director of the political work department of the Southern Theater Command, Wang Weizhong, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Guangdong Committee and Secretary of CPC Shenzhen Committee, as well as many other leaders, incumbent and retired also attended the ceremony. Representatives from all walks of life in Guangdong attended the pageantry.
