The 2018 South China Book Festival held last year.

The 2019 South China Book Festival will be held at the China Import and Export Fair Complex in Guangzhou from August 16 to 20. The exhibition area of the main venue in Guangzhou is 40,000 square meters, and the number of books on display will reach more than 200,000.

The main venue of this year's book festival will consist of four pavilions, five exhibition halls and 18 theme pavilions, covering diversified cultures and activities. Twenty branch venues will be held in other cities throughout Guangdong.

In order to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC), a theme publication exhibition hall will be set up to showcase publications related to the country’s anniversary and to demonstrate cultural confidence.

A total of 269 celebrities from home and abroad will take part in a series of forums, sharing ideas on books and culture with audiences. The event will also include a theme activity of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) Development, to enhance cultural communications between residents. Audiences will learn more about the GBA development through the blueprint, books, photos, videos and forums.

Organizers will present Guangdong's achievements of multicultural exchanges with different themes such as German, Guangdong and Taiwan. The hall, displaying many distinctive souvenirs, artifacts and foods, will enrich the experience of audiences and help present a better cultural feast.

This event marks the first time to set up a German Pavilion to strengthen collaboration with the world's leading book fairs (Frankfurt Book Fair), to display German boutique books, quality cultural products, signature handwriting, and German industry and specialty foods.
