Matilda The Musical, one of the most outstanding musicals from the UK, will be staged at the Guangzhou Opera House between August 8 and 14.

The three little performers of Matilda, including Kitty Harris, Sofia Poston and Morgan Santo met with over two hundred audiences in Guangzhou on the afternoon of August 6 and shared their stories about Matilda and performed the classic song “Naughty”. Ms Jo Hawley, the British Consul-General in Guangzhou, attended the meeting and strongly recommended the musical to everyone.

Matilda The Musical was adapted from the novel written by Roald Dahl, one of the world's most popular writers. It is produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC), one of the most influential troupes in the UK. Its screenwriter Dennis Kelly is a well-known science fiction writer and songwriter Tim Minchin is popular in European and American entertainment circles with his unique style of talk show performances and command of language and characters.
The children in the musical are aged between 6 and 12, and pull off stunning difficult dance scenes including cartwheels, alphabet songs, table jumping, swinging and skateboarding. The performer of the heroine Matilda continues to receive nominations and awards from the best actresses. Until now, Matilda The Musical has won over 90 musical awards, including seven Oliver awards (the highest award in British drama) and five Tony awards (the highest award in American drama).

Matilda is a girl who loves reading. At home, her parents prefer boys and indulging in TV shows and shallow entertainment. In school, the principal is keen on coercion, often physically abusing students, aggressively suppressing individuality and freedom. Confronted with such a life, how does a little girl change this situation with courage and wisdom?
