On April 16th, the first plenary session of the Guangdong Science and Technology Leading Group was opened in Guangzhou, in order to plan work for technological innovation.

Guangdong Governor Ma Xingrui said it is crucial to push forward the construction of the International Sci-tech Innovation Center in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao should pilot technological innovation policies, as well as promote technological industrialization and cooperation in scientific research, education and production.

To build provincial laboratories. Guangdong should strengthen core technological research by taking advantage of the resources like universities, enterprises and should increase R&D investment in key areas such as AI and digital economy. The third batch of provincial laboratories should be built in eastern, western and northern Guandong with the Pearl River Delta cities at their core.

As regards to creating a good environment for innovation. It is necessary to build a platform for international talent and further the reform of government services.
