Four new sections of subway put into operation in Shenzhen

The southern Chinese metropolis of Shenzhen has 11 metro lines in operation with a total length of 411 km, after a new line and new sections of three existing lines started services on Wednesday.

The southern Chinese metropolis of Shenzhen has 11 metro lines in operation with a total length of 411 km, after a new line and new sections of three existing lines started services on Wednesday.

The first stage of Metro Line 8 started initial operation in the city on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the third stage of Line 2, Line 3, and Line 4 also began operations.

So far this year, Shenzhen has opened six metro lines with a total length of 107 km, according to Shenzhen Metro Group Co., Ltd.

The city's metro operator also said it would start construction on five intercity railway lines within the year.
