A total of 98 projects from Nansha district were listed among Guangzhou's plan for major construction projects in 2020, which was released by the Guangzhou municipal development and reform commission on June 22.
Among all of Nansha's projects, 18 of them are preparatory projects. The district's projects mainly cover five aspects, namely infrastructure facilities, industrial construction, ecological environment protection, people's livelihoods, and urban renovation.
Industrial construction is a major focus with 35 out of 80 projects and seven out of 18 preparatory projects related to it.
The construction project of Mingzhu Science Park of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has the largest investment volume with 60 billion yuan ($8.48 billion), of which 840 million yuan will be invested in it this year.
A project on silicon carbide monocrystalline material and wafer manufacturing, which has an investment of 900 million yuan, will carry out works like research and development, as well as the pilot scale tests after operation. It will also cover the construction of facilities like factories and comprehensive buildings for scientific research and administration.
Another major project, which integrates artificial intelligence and equipment manufacturing, will also settle in Nansha. Invested in by Dingfei Aviation, a world-leading provider of UAV products and correspondent solutions, the project covers an overall building area of 68,000 square meters. It is expected to carry out the manufacturing and R&D of smart unmanned equipment like multi-rotor UAVs, unmanned vehicles, and underwater robots.
The project will also explore the development of integrated application systems in areas like autopilot control and UAVs while building a manufacturing base for smart unmanned equipment.
