Cross-city public bus services will be available between Shenzhen and Zhongshan after Shenzhong (Shenzhen-Zhongshan) Corridor project over the Pearl River finishes, according to the authority’s reply to a suggestion on building an integrated development area between Shenzhen and Zhongshan.

The reply also said that there will be a more frequent operation of waterway passenger transportation to form a “one-hour traffic circle.”

The Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission will allocate important resources to support cooperation between Shenzhen and Zhongshan in key fields, according to the reply.

Detailed plans show that industrial cooperation should be a priority to improve cooperation levels and innovation on collaboration mechanisms.

Efforts will also be given to build Zhongshan’s Cuiheng new area into a provincial high-tech area to attract high-end innovation resources from Shenzhen.

Zhongshan’s eastern coastal areas including Cuiheng New Area, Huoju Development Zone, Minzhong Town and Sanjiao Town will become key areas for Shenzhen’s expansion of industries.

Industrial cooperation is also urged between Zhongshan and Qianhai, Bao’an, Nanshan and Guangming in Shenzhen.

In the meantime, the Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission will support Shenzhen and Zhongshan to share medical resources and to allow medical insurance to be claimed in the two cities.

Apart from the Shenzhong Corridor, departments of the two cities are also promoting infrastructure construction of railways, expressways and intercity tracks in order to build a comprehensive fast cross-river traffic system.

Work on the Shenzhen-Jiangmen section of Shenmao (Shenzhen-Maoming) Railway has been approved and is awaiting launch.

Extension and reconstruction on Nanzhong (Nansha-Zhongshan) Expressway and Zhongjiang (Zhongshan-Jiangmen) Expressway are expected to be initiated this year, according to Shenzhen Economic Daily.
