The three-day Dragon Boat holiday (Duanwu Jie) attracted 510,100 visitors to the city, including 154,100 overnighters, and generated 372 million yuan ($53 million) in tourism revenue, according to the Zhuhai Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism & Sports Bureau.

Islands of the Wanshan Marine Development Experimental Zone drew 11,813 tourists during the June 25-27 holiday. Occupancy rates at island hotels and B&Bs averaged 70 percent on the first two days, and nearly all guestrooms of major accommodations, including Gree Dong'ao Hotel, Dreamland Resort, and Blue Coast B&B, were booked.

The number of island-hopping tourists from Shenzhen and Hengqin New Area, recorded at 3,500 for this holiday, had steadily increased due to an efficient transport network and more-frequent ferries.

Waterborne yoga, surfing, motorboating, and seaside golf at Dolphin Bay on Guishan Island and Nansha Bay on Dong'ao Island were popular among visitors of different ages.

Also stimulating Zhuhai's market prosperity were myriad promotional activities such as livestream sales, one-price-for-all items, night fairs, and DIY zongzi (glutinous rice wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves) at the islands and tourist attractions such as Lost City Water Park in Lanpu in Gongbei.

In terms of rural tourism, the Parent-Child Festival at Shiyiren Pitaya Farm in Doumen and Vegetable & Fruit Picking Festival at Taiwan Farmers Venture Park in the Gaolan Economic Zone were popular. Visitors to Doumen's Shili Lianjiang Agriculture Sightseeing & Experience Garden also harvested their own vegetables and fruit, cycled along greenways, admired lotus flowers, and explored paddy fields.

Ecological scenic spots in Jinwan District, including Damenkou Wetland, Baiteng Mt Ecologically Restored Wetland, Central River Wetland, and Jinshan parks, also attracted many nature lovers and night strollers.

Moreover, Chimelong Ocean Kingdom in Hengqin remained the most popular theme park in the city, while 13 domestic and foreign gold-award circus shows at Chimelong Theater offered a visual celebration.

Lionsgate Entertainment World, the first international film-themed entertainment venue in Guangdong Province, offered more than 30 immersive experiences relying on virtual reality, augmented reality, motion capture, and naked-eye 3D imaging technologies.

Meanwhile, National Geographic Ultimate Explorer held family-based adventures for children aged 6-12 as well as those for young people with 15 interactive recreational facilities.

And, Historic & Cultural Travel Routes and scenic spots throughout the city that were promoted by the Department of Culture & Tourism of Guangdong Province in May were also popular.

In 2019, the city recorded 804,300 Dragon Boat Festival visitors and tourism revenue of 673 million yuan ($95 million).
