On 8th March, a further coronavirus patients were declared successfully recovered and duly discharged from the People's Hospital of Dongguan City. Two hospitals joined forces to treat critically ill elderly

Mr. B (one of the discharged patients) is 77 years old. He came to Dongguan from Hubei to visit family and friends. His symptoms began with fever on 8th February, at which point he was immediately isolated for treatment and subsequently transferred to the Ninth People's Hospital on 9th February.

Mr. B was a severe COVID-19 case and the treatment was more difficult. Li Panshi (Director of the ICU of the Second Isolation Ward of the Ninth People's Hospital) explained that Mr. B had been suffering from a variety of basic diseases, including Coronary artery disease (CAD), hypertension, and vein thrombosis in the legs. He had also undergone PCI (coronary artery intervention) for myocardial infarction.

Mr. B was transferred from the Ninth People's Hospital to the Municipal People's Hospital on 15th February for specialist treatment because of a sudden aggravation. After consultation and treatment by experts on bone joints, Mr. B's condition improved. He was transferred back to the Ninth People's Hospital six days later.

52-year-old Mr. L (another discharged patient) drove to his hometown in Hubei on 16th January and returned to Dongguan on the morning of 26th January. He was admitted with a fever on the evening of 27th. After isolation treatment on 30th, he was transferred to the Ninth People's Hospital on 9th February.

Y is a 7-year-old girl from Hunan Province living in Dalingshan District. As a relative of a confirmed case, she was under strict medical observation from 6th February onwards. On 9th February, she was transferred to the Ninth People's Hospital for quarantine and observation. On 14th February, clinical symptoms appeared and she was officially diagnosed with the coronavirus infection.

Mr. S, 37-year-old, is from Hubei and lives in Shipai Town. He returned to Hubei to celebrate Chinese New Year on 16th January and returned to Dongguan on 25th January. He developed fatigue and other symptoms on 27th January and was quarantined for treatment on 2nd February. He was subsequently transferred to the Ninth People's Hospital because of positive test results.

The aforementioned four patients were all provided with specific anti-virus treatments and other general treatments to effectively combat the infection. To ensure the virus was clear from their systems, several successive nucleic acid tests were taken until the results proved negative. With no further clinical symptoms reported and after being discussed among the hospital's specialist group, they were allowed to leave the hospital.
