Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province, deployed 50 devices to provide efficient unmanned services for exit and entry documents, according to the city's public security bureau.

The devices can help with reservations, taking headshots, certification and other services related to exit and entry documents, including scanning passports, and are five to 10 times more efficient than manual services, the bureau said.

"It takes five to eight minutes to apply for replacement documents using the devices, which is about 10 times faster than manual services," said Chen Wenhong, an official with the bureau.

The devices have served about 200,000 people, according to the bureau.
