A delegation of 23 representatives from Hong Kong's electrical and mechanical industry visited Guangzhou from Oct 16 to 18, carrying out deep communications in talent cooperation in the industry between Guangzhou and Hong Kong.
The delegation was led by Sit Wing-han, director of the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) of Hong Kong.
Cooperative agreements were signed between CLP Group, the Hong Kong electricity supplier founded in 1901, and two vocational colleges in Guangzhou, namely Guangzhou Electromechanical Technician College and Guangzhou Public Utility Technical College.
"The college has advantages in cultivating electromechanical talents, and has carried out multiple communications and exchanges with EMSD in areas such as fire control, buildings, and elevators," said Xu Cerong, Party secretary of Guangzhou Electromechanical Technician College.
"We will also share our experience gained from the World Skills Competition to boost mutual development in talent training."
The Guangzhou-Hong Kong Skilled Talent Training Base was unveiled at the Guangzhou Industry and Trade Technician College.
In recent years, Guangzhou and Hong Kong have had frequent communications and cooperation in skilled talent training. The Guangzhou municipal human resources and social security bureau and EMSD signed a memorandum of cooperation in 2018, co-organizing trainings programs that have benefited a total of 137 skilled talents from Hong Kong.
In addition, Guangzhou has been promoting mutual recognition of six Hong Kong professional qualifications related to construction.
