If you're not a fan of hot weather, you're probably dreading the summer season. Luckily, there is a fantastic destination in Guangdong where you can escape the heat and enjoy an incredible travel experience — Luhe county.

Located in eastern Guangdong province, Luhe county has been named to the list of Eco-healthcare Villages of China. It is the first county in Guangdong to achieve such a designation. Silk Road Post offers the following top attractions to help you make the most of your trip to Luhe.

Excellent ecological environment

With over 70 percent of its land covered by forest, Luhe has the largest mangroves forest nature reserve in China. Visitors can see a great variety of rare animals and plants that are under state protection in the forest, such as giant salamanders and Anguilla marmorata (giant mottled eels). The concentration of negative ions in Luhe county is extremely high, over 9,800 per cubic centimeter, providing clean and natural air.

Baishui waterfall

Luhe's mountain stream region is home to this beautiful waterfall. Foamy water falls from a height of over 200 meters and drops into a pool, creating a fresh mist. Visitors may feel like stepping into a painting when they see the clear pool surrounded by lush greenery.

Plum blossoms

Although there's no shortage of plum trees in the city, it's when they bloom together that their beauty truly stands out. Luhe is known as the "Home of Green Plums in China," with its plum forest covering an area of more than 200,000 mu (33,000 acres). Visitors can see gorgeous plum blossoms when the weather is still chilly in late winter and early spring. They can also taste fresh plums in summer and enjoy plum wine and salted plum all year round.

Shanghu hot spring

There are two hot springs in the county, with the temperature of 44—56℃. The natural thermal mineral waters are said to have miraculous effects on skin diseases, chronic arthritis, and myocarditis. It is easy to feel one with nature while enjoying therapeutic waters in this surprisingly beautiful location.
