The Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) ranks No. 10 among China’s mainland universities on the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for the Asian Region released Thursday.
Tsinghua University ranks No. 1 among Asian universities for the first time, replacing National University of Singapore. Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, The University of Hong Kong and Peking University took the third, fourth and fifth positions. Among the top 100 universities in Asia, 26 are on the Chinese mainland. SUSTech is ranked No. 41 among Asian universities.
The ranking evaluated universities across teaching, research, citation, international outlook and industrial income indices by using 13 carefully calibrated performance indicators to provide the most comprehensive and balanced comparisons of over 400 universities from 27 countries and regions in Asia.
Across the indices, SUSTech ranks No. 1 among mainland universities in citations and international outlook. The ranking shows that SUSTech has performed well, especially regarding research, citations and international outlook.
SUSTech has more citations by global scholars than any other mainland university on average.
