On December 14th, the 4th Congress of the Council for the Promotion of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Cooperation was convened in Guangzhou, with the Secretary for Economy and Finance of the Macao SAR government Leong Vai Tac engaged as a honorary adviser.
The council has brought together outstanding figures and industry elites from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. It has played an important role in promoting cooperation and development between the three places with remarkable achievement, Leong said.
The development of China, the cooperation among Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao and the development of Macao have entered a new era. Macao will be more proactive in helping the country to further opening-up, more proactively participating in national development and governance practices, more proactively promoting international cultural exchanges, he said.
Thanks to the council, now Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao have formed a close relationship of mutual benefit and win-win cooperation. Based on this situation, next the three places should deepen cooperation in various fields and strive to establish a cooperative development community.
According to Leong, further key work include: to co-construct a single free trade zone by the three places under the Closer Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA); to implement the upcoming plan of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay area, to build up the world-class bay area and city cluster; to take part in the Belt and Road Initiative and to actively promote the construction of major cooperation platforms.
