“My sister married a Germen guy who owns a company in Dongguan. They produce cables,” said Jerica Buhayan, a student from Philippines, “and my another sister also works in Dongguan for an Italian brand. They produce iPhone, laptop cases and luggage and so on.”
Jerica enjoys being with people from different countries and said this is one of the reasons why she chose to study here in Guangdong.
“The most impressive thing I experience is language. I’ m only in one school, but there are a lot of other languages around here,” she said, “and it was also amazing that I was chosen to perform on CCTV this month, with international students from other countries.”

Like Robin, Jerica and Terry, tens of thousands of international students are studying in China nowaday. According to statistics by the Ministry of Education of PRC, over 440,000 oversea students studied in China in 2016, among which 207, 746 were from “Belt and Road” countries.
In Guangdong, there were about 24,605 oversea students in 2016, ranking 7th in the country. And 695 of them received Oversea Students Scholarship from Guangdong Government.
