The duties of the Department of Environmental Protection of Guangdong Province, as specified by Guangdong Provincial Government in accordance with relevant laws, are as follows: Implementing  the national and provincial environmental protection laws, regulations and policies, drafting local environmental protection regulations and rules; drawing up and supervising the implementation of environmental protection standards of Guangdong Province; drawing up provincial environmental protection plans and environmental function zoning; drawing up pollution prevention plans for key regions and river basins and environmental protection plans for drinking water sources and supervising the implementation; drawing up pollution prevention plans for key sea areas in cooperation with relevant departments; participating in the formulation of the main function zoning of Guangdong Province.
