In general, foreigners should apply to China's diplomatic missions, consulates, or other agencies authorized by China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs for a visa; however, some foreigners can apply for a visa after arriving under the condition of:
(1) Being temporarily invited by the Chinese side to join trade fairs
(2) Being invited to bid or sign trade contracts officially
(3) Being invited to supervise the export, import check or contractual check
(4) Being invited to participate in equipment installment or project repairing
(5) Being requested to solve a compensation problem
(6) Being invited to provide scientific and technological consultation
(7) Being added to a membership list of a group visa with the agreement of Chinese side after the group visa has been approved
(8) To see patients in serious condition or bereavement purposes
(9) Those who are immigrating via China and could not leave by the original flight or through other means of transportation within 24 hours
(10) Others who are invited to China who cannot apply for a visa in time, with a letter of appointed agencies in charge of post-arrival visa applications
Applying for a visa after arriving requires a valid passport and invitation from the Chinese side, a completed Application Form for Visas, a Foreigners' Certificate Paper, and a recent 2-inch photo.
