Beijing subway operator will complete installation of cameras inside Metro Line 1 and 2 subway trains before the end of the month to improve management.
The Metro operation company has equipped 108 subway carriages with cameras, the Beijing Evening News reported on Sunday.
Each car has two cameras. The operator will install cameras on the other 300 train cars of the two lines by the end of the month, the newspaper said.
The move is expected to help the operator monitor the lines and take immediate measures in case of any emergency, the News said, citing the company.
The operator will also install 1,558 cameras on the 42 subway stations of the two lines.
Also, 180 old cars serving Line 1 will be replaced by new ones by May next year.
Sixty cars on Line 2 will be replaced with new ones, and additional 84 cars will be put into use to expand the operational fleet.
Beginning in July, the operator will install automatic ticket-selling machines on the stations along the two lines.
