>>Special report: Gotheborg visits Guangzhou
July 23, at 10:00 am, the gate to the Gotheborg was at last opened, an event that had long been anticipated by Guangzhou residents. The price of an entrance ticket was RMB 30 per person. Preliminary statistics for the first day of the Gotheborg show, show that 1,200 visitors toured the ship.
Even though yesterday'temperature of was very high, visitors were not deterred by the suffocating weather. Most visitors had already got the information from the media that the Gotheborg would be open at 10:00 am, but many arrived at the Zhoutouzui Harbor Gotheborg Expo Park at around 9:00am, ready to board the replica ship at the moment it was open, which was much hotter than the weather.
The official time for the selling the tickets to begin was 10:00 a.m., with all tickets being sold at the Gotheborg Expo Park. To-date, the Guangzhou Travel Agency has already booked about 10,000 tickets that will also be sold at the site.
Since the Gotheborg is only able to accommodate a limited number of visitors, the visitor flow would be controlled for safety reasons. Yesterday, reporters were given information that, according to the original plan, the flow per hour would not be more than 500 people, and that the number of daily visitors would not exceed 4,500. However, for each half hour yesterday, the number of visitors allowed on the ship was reduced to less than 90.
Visits to the ship was started from 10:00 am, and finished at 3:00 pm; but, from about 2:00 pm, no more visitors were permitted on board.
The staff of the Expo Park informed visitors that the opening dates for visits to the Gotheborg were from 23 July to 13 August, and that visitors should try to avoid peak visiting times.
