AFTER a scorching weekend, the city will see slightly lower temperatures this week, the Shenzhen Observatory said yesterday (June 25).
The maximum temperature today will be 33 degrees Celsius, down two degrees from yesterday. The maximum temperature for the whole week will range between 30 and 33 degrees Celsius, with showers to offer temporary relief from the heat, according to the city's observatory.
The observatory issued this year's first yellow alert for high temperature at 5 p.m. Saturday but removed it yesterday. A yellow alert means the temperature will rise to above 35 degrees Celsius in the following 24 hours.
Yesterday, the maximum temperature in most parts of the city was 34 degrees Celsius, but the observatory recorded 35.1 degrees Celsius in Longhua Subdistrict, the highest for this year. It recorded 35 degrees Celsius in Guanlan Subdistrict and the Silver Lake area in Futian District.
