FIVE Shenzhen travel agencies were ranked among the top 100 international travel services in China, the China National Tourism Administration announced Tuesday (June 13).

Shenzhen Port China Travel Service (SPCTS) ranked the highest among the city's travel agencies at No. 15, with Overseas Chinese Town China Travel Service at No. 30, Shenzhen China International Travel Service at No. 39, Shenzhen Tourism Group at No. 52 and Shenzhen Orientour International Travel Service at No. 88.

The annual ranking was based on the number of overseas tourists each travel agency handled over a period of one year. Besides, profit margins, foreign exchange revenue and taxation are also decisive factors. The top 100 was chosen from 1,590 agencies across the country.

The top three were China Travel Service Head Office, China Youth Travel Service, both based in Beijing and the Hong Kong-based China Comfort Travel.

SPCTS was founded in 1950. "It doesn't matter we didn't enter top 10. We did our best," Song Qiang, head of SPCTS told the Shenzhen Daily yesterday.
