A guest holds up a bowl of homemade wine at a mass banquet in Dapeng Fortress in Longgang District, Shenzhen, yesterday (Feb 15).
More than 3,000 Chinese and overseas Chinese from the United States, Britain, Germany, Canada and Australian dined at the banquet aimed at promoting the historic site on Shenzhen's picturesque eastern coast. The Dapeng Fortress, built in 1394, is the only State-protected historical site in the city. The "Generals' Banquet" was named after the generals and warriors that guarded the ancient fortress in the past centuries.
