Tourism booming in Guangzhou during lunar new year
Charter flights take off after break

The city of Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province, is seeing a prosperous tourism market during the week-long Spring Festival holidays, or the Chinese Lunar New Year, which began on Jan. 29 this year.

Nearly 1.3 million tickets were sold at 45 main scenic spots in Guangzhou in the first three days of the lunar new year, bringing in 24 million yuan (about 3 million U.S. dollars) of earnings, according to sources with the city's Office for Holiday Affairs.

Baiyun Mountain, Lianhua Mountain in Panyu and Changlong Safari Park are crowning the city's ticket office revenues, the sources said.

"Most tourists chose to visit Guangzhou on Jan. 30 and 31," said the sources, citing initial statistics.
