From Jan. 1 to July 30 next year, a discount of 0.2 yuan (US$0.025) will be available to Transcard holders taking the Metro and a bus within a certain time period, the Municipal Communications Bureau announced Monday.

The discount, to be offered on a trial basis, is for people using the Transcard to take the Metro and the No. 78 bus that shuttles between the Nantou Checkpoint and the Shijiezhichuang (Window of the World) station. The practice is to encourage more residents to take public transport, said the communications bureau.

People who take the No. 78 bus within half an hour of exiting the Shijiezhichuang Metro station will get a discount of 0.2 yuan on their bus ticket price. And those taking the Metro within an hour of getting on the No. 78 bus can also get 0.2 yuan off the Metro ticket price.
