 THE Fifth China Hi-Tech Fair welcomes large numbers of guests from all over the world. Though the young, metropolitan city leaves a deep impression with its skyscrapers and modern facilities, Shenzhen also is home to more than 40 historical and cultural sites. The city's theme parks are also well prepared to entertain guests from afar.

Nantou Ancient City

It is testimony to Shenzhen's ancient history and is praised as a national historical resource shared by Shenzhen and Hong Kong. There are buildings of the Ming and Qing dynasties like Xinguogong Memorial Hall as well as many ancient wells, streets, gates and temples.

Chiwan Tianhou Temple

The temple lies beside Chiwan Village in Nanshan District. The largest temple in honor of the heavenly queen in Guangdong Province, it enjoys a high reputation in Hong Kong, Macao and Southeast Asia.

Dapeng Fortress

Built in the 27th year of the Hongwu Reigns of the Ming Dynasty for coastal defense, it played a significant role in fighting back raiders and pirates during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Having survived for more than 600 years, it stands strong and proud to this day, with a simple but still majestic gate, well preserved houses of the Ming and Qing dynasties, and narrow winding alleys paved with green stones.

Splendid China

The park is one of the world's largest sub-scale scenic spots, reflecting China's natural landscape and cultural history.

China Folk Culture Villages

Covering 180,000 square meters, it is the first in China blending folk cultures and architecture of all nationalities in China.

Window of the World

Divided into nine scenic spots, it collects world wonders, historic sites, natural landscapes, folk architecture, sculptures, paintings, folk singing and dancing.

Happy Valley

It offers unusual and adventurous full-participation activities. During Oct. 12-19, it presents a series of technology-related programs. All the fair delegations can get a 20-yuan discount in admission fares.
