SHENZHEN is a beautiful, metropolitan city, full of sights and activities. There are many places within the city to visit and enjoy such as fine restaurants and theaters. Also, there are attractions such as Splendid China and Window of the World that are specifically tailored for tourists.
However, my personal preferences are the quiet places with strong visual content such as Lichee Park, Silver Lake, Guan Shanyue Art Museum and the "sculpture parkway" along Shangbu Road North near where it intersects Sungang Road. Strolling the parkway at my own pace allows me to quietly appreciate the subtle, artistic qualities of the sculptures. Allow me to present some images and impressions of the sculptures along "sculpture parkway." Whether you are a resident or a visitor, I hope you will find enjoyment as I have.
 Grasshopper
This is an image of a boy sculpted in bronze. I call him "Grasshopper." The nickname "Grasshopper" refers to a character in an old, but popular U.S. television series about a Chinese kung fu disciple named Cain. It's probably not familiar to Chinese readers in China, but to Americans of my generation, mention of the name "Grasshopper" still brings a smile.
Chrome Ladies of Shangbu: Smooth and shiny, they seem to change shape as the viewer changes position.

Red Bulls: This is a bold, angular, dramatic sculpture of three red bulls in a brilliant shade of red. It looks like a bull family with a momma bull, a papa bull and a baby bull.

Thinker: It depicts a man holding a pencil to his head and apparently engaged in some serious thinking.

Dancer: Ah, such grace; a performing artist captured in metal. There appears to be lots of symbolism in this creation including a section of rough texture in "her" middle, so enjoy your own personal translation.

Child's Play: What's more happy than children playing? This light-hearted stone sculpture depicts children at play.
