The second phase of the Canton Fair opened yesterday (Oct. 25th). Some purchasers can not find standard rooms in downtown Guangzhou hotels, while the executive rooms available are 1000-4000 yuan (USD 125 - 500) per day and too costly. Some opt to accommodate themselves in hotels of neighboring cities.
The first phase of the fair that ended on Oct 20th received over 100,000 purchasers, a new record high in Canton Fair history. And the city witnesses international purchasers flooding in for the second phase in recent days.
The Price Control Administration of Guangzhou Municipality had set ceiling prices for the standard room and deluxe room in downtown Guangzhou in Canton Fair period, but these kinds of rooms at reasonable prices are fully booked before the fair opens. Most of the rooms available at present are executive rooms, at a price of 1000 yuan (3-star hotel) or even 3-4000 yuan (5-star hotel).
Increasing number of purchasers choose to accommodate in nearby cities as Dongguan, Foshan and Nanhai. Hotels in these cities have sufficient rooms at reasonable prices, and they offer free coaches shuttling between the hotels and the fair complexes, the trip will probably take one hour.
