Mount Dinghu is located northeast to downtown Zhaoqing, west Guangdong. This green mountain is on the Tropic of Cancer and is name 'Green lung of Guangdong'.
Green world
Mount Dinghu has 133 ha. of virgin forest and 1333.2 ha. of plantation. Here live1856 species of tropical and subtropical plants, winning the mount titles like 'gene stock house' and 'natural museum' of south China's plant species.
Ancient plants flourishing
Mount Dinghu is a time machine, bringing us back to the Jurassic Period. It is sure that you will not find a living dinosaurs here, but you can find the spinulose tree fern, which is a sort of rare, subtropical, exotic-looking, woody fern and an endangered plant now under strict state protection. It is well known as a living fossil which has existed some 180 millions years ago when the earth was dominated by dinosaurs. Furthermore, the woody trunks contain much starch and tannin that can be used for medical purposes.
Home to Rare Animals
Mount Dinghu, with various kinds of plants, offers plenty of foods and ideal shelters for over 900 kinds of insects, 178 kinds of birds, 38 kinds of animals. Here you can also find 15 rare species, including pangolin and small indian civet.
