Family Reunion and a feast!
Decades ago, many Cantonese were so poor that they had the only meal with meat of a whole year on new year's eve. In the past twenty years, meats, chicken, fish, seafood and many other expensive foods appeared on their dinner tables. And more recently, as Cantonese people started to pursue healthier lifestyle, they have more vegetables for dinners.
More and more families choose to eat out on this evening. The festival eve dinner booking began about two month before the new year, and many famous restaurants were fully booked one month before the evening. Besides, the seats in the first week after the forthcoming Spring Festival are also hard to book.
