Chinese central government have put forward ten measures to encourage exports that is facing crisis because of the impact of SARS, Nanfang daily reports.
These measures include: enhance leadership, set up fast channel for anti-SARS materials, protect exports, improve communications on SARS issue, protect major export-oriented enterprises, support hi-tech products exports, improve efficiency of custom application, improve cooperation between ports and inland, and build up a efficient communication system to coordinate departments relating to exports.
The circular urged customs across the country to attach much importance to anti-SARS measures, including quarantine and disinfections, in a bid to check the spread of the virus.
Chinese Customs General Administration (CGA) adjusted through-customs procedure and transport enterprises filing management, and suspended the deadline for annual inspection of enterprises and institutions.
Shenzhen municipal government approved applications for financial support of 5 research projects, all of which are aimed at improving treatment of SARS. Another 30 projects are in the process of application to date.
With an aim to alleviate the financial burden of SARS-hit industries, especially tourism, hotels, entertainment, transportation and catering, Foshan municipal government has decided to reduce or waive taxes on them. The alleviation will be in operation from May 1 to September 30.
In Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong province, Guangzhou Baiyun Airport soon built up fast channel for anti-SARS goods. From April 24, when the first batch of anti-SARS materials applied for through-custom, to May 15, 20 patches of anti-SARS goods have passed the fast channel of the port.
Under the leadership of Chinese Customs General Administration, all the custom houses in Guangdong have adjusted their through-customs procedure according to their specific circumstances.
