Guangdong will endeavor to establish a common market together with another eight provinces and regions in the Pan-Pearl River Delta (PPRD), to be known as the 9+2 region.
Cooperation would mainly focus on 10 fields including infrastructure, industrial investment, trade, tourism, education, scientific research and environmental protection.
At an interview Friday (May 28), Guangdong Governor Huang Huahua said the government would play a role in creating an open, equal market environment, coordinating important issues in cooperation and establishing regional competitiveness under the PPRD cooperation framework. He was speaking only days before the opening of the Forum on Regional Cooperation and Development in the Pan-Pearl River Delta from June 1 to 3.
A cooperation channel and periodic information communication system would be established to gradually eliminate barriers for commodity distribution, the governor said.
Huang said the province would promote cooperation with other provinces by integrating regional resources, strengthening industrial cooperation and promoting compatibility of markets and commodities.
