Journalist of Southcn.com conducted an interview with Liang Zhiqiang, the Deputy Mayor of Qingyuan yesterday afternoon.

Q: In recent years, Qingyuan has devoted to industrializing, and absorbing foreign investment, and  has now on its way of becoming a booming town of PRD. Would you please give us a general idea as what role Qingyuan is to play in the Great PRD economic area?

A: Located in the northwest part of Guangdong province, Qingyuan possesses an area of 19,200 square meters. Although it is not so developed as the neighboring Pearl River Delta area,  we have established a tactic of development, which is "industrialization, urbanization, market-orientation and being the back garden of PRD."

Q: Can you explain that in detail?

A: The four parts of the strategy are closely related --- industrialization will boost the increase of population, which is essential in urbanization of the area. As Guangzhou is expanding its coverage, Qingyuan, a place with rich natural resource, will win the chance for development of its tertiary industry. So it aims to be the back garden of Guangzhou.
 
Q: What is the general goal of Qingyuan?

A: The general goal is to improve its economic competitiveness, relying on its industrialization.

We will take into consideration the advantages and disadvantages of different areas on the way of industrialization. As for urbanization, we will make efforts to built a "back garden" as well as a tourist city.

Q: Talking about industry, can you introduce some pillar industries of Qingyuan?

A: Qingyuan used to focus on agriculture before, with a very weak industrial foundation. But in recent years we achieved a great progress in the field of electronics, zoology, biological, textile and auto fittings, by taking full advantage of our rich resource of water and coal power. We also establish our own industrial park.

Q: What's the advantage of Qingyuan in introducing the foreign capital?

A: We believe, cost, resource and environment are the most important things in an enterprise's development. The price of electricity in Qingyuan is the lowest in the province. Besides, we have rich natural resources and good environment.
 
Q: What are the attractions about Qingyuan that you want to articulate during the ICCFED?

A: Qingyuan is a young and dynamic city and also a renown tourist attraction£¬with its infrastructural construction keeps improving. A new airport and our expressway network are also under construction. So in the future, Qingyuan can be a place to invest in.
